    Why in the world do we keep making ethanol? Who is even buying the stuff? I don't see any flex fuel vehicles any more. Maybe they're all in the midwest.

    I'm pretty sure that a certain percentage of all gasoline is now ethanol. Something like 10-20%.

    I think I was wrong. I'm not sure what the percentages are.

    Gas companies are buying ethanol because congress passed a law mandating its purchase:

    Now that you mention it, I have noticed that most gas pumps nowadays (since I actually pump my own gas) list that it "may contain up to 10% ethanol." So you may be on the right track there.

    Gotta love a government mandate to buy ethanol.
