Romney and religion | Power Line
Not a dry eye in my living room.
I have recounted several stories of this nature on Power Line, but had not read about the two offered tonight. Apparently, there is a nearly endless supply.
As I asked the other day, does Obama have any such stories? Has he ever helped people in need, other than by pushing for controversial political action items?"

Team Romney calls out Obama for misspelling 'Ohio' at campaign stop - The Hill's Twitter Room
Although Obama and several students at a campaign stop Tuesday morning at Sloopy’s Diner on the campus of OSU tweeted out photos of the president correctly posing as the “I” in Ohio, another student supplied a photo of a spelling mishap to Mitt Romney’s campaign."
'via Blog this'
In fairness to Obama, from his perspective as a participant, oiho reversed correctly spells Ohio.
So maybe what this really shows is Obama's failure to be able to see things from other peoples' perspectives?

As this story shows, there is a strong consensus among economists that Romney will be a better president for the economy than Obama. The science is settled. I predict the media will immediately start reporting this economic fact.

Dreams From My Father, Calls From My Brother - By Mark Steyn - The Corner - National Review Online
He was a bit flustered, and soon informed me that his young son was sick with a chest condition. He pleaded with me to send him $1,000 to cover the medical bills. Since George was at the hospital I asked him to let me speak to a nurse, and she confirmed that George’s son was indeed ill. So I agreed to send George the money through Western Union. He was profusely grateful. But before I hung up I asked George, “Why are you coming to me?” He said, “I have no one else to ask.” Then he said something that astounded me, “Dinesh, you are like a brother to me.”"

Do you want a president who honors your right to pursue happiness, not as government commands, but as you choose?
Do you want a president who will work every day to bring us together, not tear us apart?
Do you want a president who will celebrate success, not attack it?
Do you want a president who will never, ever apologize for the greatest nation on earth?"

"Too many folks still don't have a sense that tomorrow will be better than today. And so, the question in this election is which way do we go?" President Obama asked at a fundraiser in Chicago on Sunday. "Do we go forward towards a new vision of an America in which prosperity is shared?" Obama asked. "Or do we go backward to the same policies that got us in the mess in the first place?"

If Barack Obama gets his way and raises taxes on everyone making $250,000.00 a year or more, the amount of money he brings in will not close his own budget deficit. Nevermind the national debt — he won’t close this year’s budget deficit. In fact, if we get the Democrats’ their wet dream of tax policy and take 100% of all annual income of everyone making $250,000.00 a year or more, we still won’t close Barack Obama’s budget deficit.

George Will: Romney’s presidential pick - The Washington Post
'via Blog this'
Paul Ryan? Really? It’s a stunning choice. A terrible one too. By making it, Mitt Romney tells America that he is not his own man and hasn’t even the remotest fleeting desire to be his own man. He is owned by the right wing. Did I write a couple of weeks ago that Romney was insecure? Well—Q.E.D.
Me: remember when Romney was a stuffed suit willing to say anything to get elected. He's already got the nomination, and republicans are motivated to vote against Obama. So is there any actual evidence to support this article?

Thoughts About the Selection of Paul Ryan
I think his viability as congressman shows that both democrats and Republicans want to cut the size of government. His district went to Obama by 4%, yet he consistently wins reelection by more than 60%.
It also shows Romney is serious about tackling entitlements. I've always been concerned that once elected, Romney may get very squishy when it comes to tackling hard issues. I don't think he would select Ryan if he was not serious about tackling entitlements.
http://mobile.bloomberg.com/news/2012-08-11/this-is-now-the-most-important-election-since-1980.html
The Democratic attack on Ryan and his budget plan is, at best, ignorant. “Budget-busting” tax cuts? The Ryan budget plan envisions taxes running at a higher level of GDP than the average of the last few decades. It brings the budget to long- term balance -- something that Obama has never proposed. (As his Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner admitted to Ryan in February: “We’re not coming before you to say we have a definitive solution to our long-term problem. What we do know is we don’t like yours.”)
Me: something beats nothin'.

One last comment that probably won't be very helpful, but I want to get it off my chest: When I see the hard work and positive attitude of the typical immigrant, I find it very hard to sympathize with the problems of the American working class. The so-called American poor are born with so many advantages, but they squander them through their own bad attitude and irresponsible behavior. Yes, in a welfare state the problems of my country's working class are my problem. But that makes me want to *attack* the welfare state, not expand it to help undeserving Americans even more. The people we should be worrying about are immigrants and would-be immigrants who can't even legally accept a job offer, not Americans who can't bother showing up to work on time.

Ted Cruz on the Tea Party
This is part of a tidal wave that began in 2010 and that tidal wave is only stronger in 2012. Those protests died down. I think the reason is the Tea Party went to work… [V]oters are tired of career politicians in both parties, I mean, our country is at a crisis point right now… The American people are looking for new leaders who will step up and stop spending money we don’t have.” "
'via Blog this'
Can I just say that I find no fault in the Tea Party? To the contrary, I find that the tea party represents the best of American politics.
The Tea Party stands for basically two things: fiscal responsibility and constitutional government. And really those are one thing--because the constitution, as conceived, was supposed to enact a limited government.
Some people might criticize the tea party for being too strident, but I think these criticisms are completely misplaced. Sure, they should get the best result they can obtain with their limited power. I want them to be relevant. But compromise is overrated. How do you compromise when you think the government is moving in the wrong direction? You allow it to move in the wrong direction, but more slowly? Better I think to remain ideologically pure and find more converts than to compromise your principles and dilute the message.
