Press Release: Now More Than 500 Economists Back Romney Economic Plan « Economists For Romney: "Now More Than 500 Economists Back Romney Economic Plan

Washington, D.C.:  Economists for Romney (E4R) announced today that 526 economists have now signed its statement in support of Governor Romney’s economic plan."

As this story shows, there is a strong consensus among economists that Romney will be a better president for the economy than Obama.  The science is settled. I predict the media will immediately start reporting this economic fact.

Talk about damning with faint praise.

And, for the record, I am not one of those economists, since I don't know what policies Romney, if elected, would follow. Consider George Bush, who talked a small government, pro-market line but didn't act that way.

Prof. Friedman,

What an honor to have you comment on my blog! I thoroughly enjoyed The Machinery of Freedom. I'm big fan of your Dad, too.

In case it wasn't clear, I meant this post tongue-in-cheek. I was attempting to parody the reasoning it seems to me is pervasive in the media, especially when it comes to global warming science: most experts believe X, so X is the scientific truth. But the technique only seems to be employed when it supports, what I perceive anyway, as the media's ideological bias.

I also suppose these endorsements are given the same way the CBO scores economic legislation--they assume follow through, no matter how unlikely.
